For nearly 30 years, Cambodia has been synonymous with civil war, suffering, even genocide. And while it seemed this small nation was finally on the road to recovery, the July 1997 coup shattered many peoples' hopes. But despite this setback, the Cambodian people - the Khmers - continue to hold out for a hopeful future. This hope can be seen in the faces of Cambodia's youth. We met and photographed the children you see here during a two day visit to Angkor, the magnificent ancient capital of the Khmer empire.
