Casa Luna Cooking Class

During our final days in Bali, Andy took a half-day cooking class at the Casa Luna Restaurant in Ubud. The course included a fascinating morning tour of the local market, then a trip back to the restaurant to whip up some chicken curry and half a dozen other dishes. The class, which include seven other people, wrapped up by having us feast on our culinary creations. Selamat makan! (Bon apetite!)

This woman was selling a warm jello-like concoction of plants and coconut milk. Apart from the consistency it tasted great -- but unfortunately Andy thinks it also contributed to a case of Bali Belly he got at the end of the trip.

Nyoman explains the process of making fresh curry paste as a chef pounds the ingredients in a mortar. Trust us, it's harder to do than it looks.
