The Man Mo Temple

The Man Mo Temple is one of the oldest and most beautiful temples on Hong Kong island. Built in the 1800s, the temple is dedicated to two deities: Man, the god of literature, and Mo, the god of war.

"Reaching the temple, I noticed the sun was getting low in the sky -- still quite bright out, but beginning to dip below the western skyline. Inside, we were greeted by a stunning site -- the thick incense smoke created a brilliant sun ray pattern, with beams of light streaking a sharp angles through the interior of the temple. It was a very moving experience, not at all lessened by the fact this was my third or fourth visit to the temple. There are other temples in Hong Kong, but Man Mo is a special place that never fails to awe and inspire. We wandered the interior of the temple, quietly taking photos and videos of the candles, altars and incense...."
