Unfurling The Gates

On Saturday, February 12, 2005, I left the East Village just before 7:30am to participate in the official unfurling of The Gates in Central Park. Over 1,000 people assembled in the meadow, not far from the southwest corner of the park. At 8:30am, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg joined the artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude for the unfurling of the very first gate.
