The Gateway of the Jama Masjid

The Jama Masjid (literally, The Friday Mosque) is the largest and most spectacular mosque in Delhi. Constructed by Shah Jehan in the mid-17th century, the Masjid and its marble courtyard can hold up to 20,000 worshippers. At the appointed hours of prayer, thousands of Muslim Delhi-wallahs come to the mosque for a few minutes of devotion each and every day.
