The ancient city-state of Bhaktapur, a short ride east of Kathmandu, is now a living museum, closed off to all motorized traffic. It's a peaceful and serene place compared to the bustle of Kathmandu, and the local kids can play freely without worrying about getting run over by an autorickshaw or tourist bus.
